All members of the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board have committed to take a leadership role in forging a strong and vital partnership between business and the workforce development community, helping to identify new resources to leverage with public dollars, being ambassadors and champions for the workforce system, and engaging in the Board’s work through service on at least one of the following standing committee.  Many members also volunteer their time on WIB work groups and task forces, as well as engaged in “affiliated” efforts.    

Executive Committee

Provide leadership, set agendas and priorities for the full board, and align work across all of the Philadelphia WIB committees and work groups. Chair: Roosevelt Hairston, Jr. 

Board Development Committee

Recommend and recruit new members and maximize Board engagement. Chair: David Donald 

Employer Strategy Committee

Establish and implement a strategy to improve and align business services across the city and oversee industry partnerships. Chair: Andrew Wigglesworth

Human Capital Committee

Provide strategic leadership and guidance around the most pressing human capital issues facing Philadelphia to help the city develop the skills of its people to support the region’s key industries. Chair: Janet Ryder

Public Affairs Committee

Lead campaigns to engage elected officials and other key stakeholders in advancing the interests of Philadelphia’s workforce system and endorse and communicate policy positions. Chair: Tracee Hunt 

Research Committee

Articulate gaps in knowledge around the workforce, prioritize and guide research projects to Inform the larger mission of the WIB, and advance knowledge around crucial elements of workforce success in the economy and the Greater Philadelphia area.  Chair: Les Spero

Philadelphia Council on College and Career Success

The emerging workforce is critical to the region’s economic future. As a standing committee of the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board, The Philadelphia Council on College and Career Success provides leadership and advocacy in support of Philadelphia’s youth workforce investment system and oversees WorkReady Philadelphia and Project U-Turn. The Philadelphia Youth Network staffs the Philadelphia Council on College and Career Success. Leadership Team: Arlene Ackerman, Tony Bartolomeo, Ann Weaver Hart, Lori Shorr

When necessary, the PWIB organizes other task forces and work groups to advance special initiatives.
