I like it when things work the way they are supposed to. Frankly, it bothers me that thousands of people want jobs, and thousands of employers cannot find the workers they need. This is a problem we have the power to solve. Not individually, but collectively. So how do workforce issues impact me? They motivate me to make the economy work better — for employers, for individuals, and for our future. Like it's supposed to.

I'd like to see Philly invest in those in need of better job skills and formal education like it has invested in keeping the 'creative class' from leaving the City after college.

As a free job-training provider servicing low-income adults in Philadelphia, I have learned that while there are several individuals who want jobs and better opportunities there are also those that want better opportunities without the understanding of the work necessary to earn them. The question is how do we get our "underclass" to reinvest in themselves. The opportunities are aplenty- the people pursuing them are not.
